A hallmark is an official stamp applied by a UK Assay Office. It certifies that the metal has been independently tested and meets legal standards of purity.It is a legal requirement in the UK to hallmark any piece described as gold, silver, platinum or palladium if it exceeds a certain weight:
- Silver: Over 7.78 grams
- Gold: Over 1 gram
- Platinum: Over 0.5 grams-
- Palladium: Over 1 gram
Pieces below these thresholds are legally exempt, but we may choose to hallmark them regardless for your peace of mind.
