FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What makes Atlas Carré jewellery different from other brands?
Many jewellery brands cut corners to reduce cost - for example, using lighter, thinner settings, less gold, or simplified constructions.
At Atlas Carré, we don’t compromise: our pieces are built solid, with proper weight and durability, advanced innovations like our non-flip tennis setting, and designed for stacking in 13 signature colours.
The result is jewellery that feels substantial, looks striking, and lasts - without shortcuts.
Why coloured lab-grown gemstones?
Lab-grown coloured gemstones let us offer the beauty of rare gems - sapphires, rubies, emeralds, spinels, alexandrites - at a fraction of the cost of their mined equivalents. Natural stones of the same quality can be extremely rare and priced out of reach.
By choosing lab-grown, you get the same chemical and optical properties, with greater consistency, vibrant colour options, and far better accessibility - all without the environmental and ethical impact of mining.
Are lab-grown gemstones real?
Which lab-grown gemstones do you offer?
We offer a curated selection of high-quality lab-grown gemstones, including:
- Diamonds (colorless and fancy hues)
- Sapphires (blue, pink, yellow, purple, orange)
- Emeralds
- Rubies
- Alexandrites
- Amethysts
- Citrines
- Spinels (blue, green, black)
- Tsavorites (Green garnet - YAG)
- Cultured pearls - saltwater and freshwater.
What’s the difference between lab-grown, synthetic, and simulated gemstones?
Lab-grown gemstones (also called synthetic or synthesised) are real gems, with the same chemical composition and crystal structure as natural stones.
Simulated gemstones only imitate the appearance of other gems but have a different composition. For example, we use high-quality spinels to simulate aquamarine, blue topaz, and green tourmaline.
How are lab-grown diamonds made?
There are two main methods:
- HPHT (High Pressure High Temperature): replicates the natural conditions of heat and pressure.
- CVD (Chemical Vapor Deposition): grows diamond layers from carbon-rich gas inside a chamber.
Both methods create real diamonds that are chemically and visually identical to mined ones.

Why do prices vary so much for lab-grown gemstones?
While you may find stones advertised as “lab-grown” on mass-market sites, they are often not genuine lab-grown gemstones but cubic zirconia or other simulants. Even when they are real, lab-grown gems vary widely in quality - just like mined stones.
At Atlas Carré, we use only premium-grade lab-grown gemstones, cut to the highest standards for brilliance and colour. Each stone is carefully selected and set by hand to ensure exceptional beauty and durability. This means our gems are not just affordable alternatives, but true fine jewellery gemstones - designed to last and hold their value.
