What makes Atlas Carré jewellery different from other brands?

Many jewellery brands cut corners to reduce cost - for example, using lighter, thinner settings, less gold, or simplified constructions.

At Atlas Carré, we don’t compromise: our pieces are built solid, with proper weight and durability, advanced innovations like our non-flip tennis setting, and designed for stacking in 13 signature colours.

The result is jewellery that feels substantial, looks striking, and lasts - without shortcuts.

Why coloured lab-grown gemstones?

Lab-grown coloured gemstones let us offer the beauty of rare gems - sapphires, rubies, emeralds, spinels, alexandrites - at a fraction of the cost of their mined equivalents. Natural stones of the same quality can be extremely rare and priced out of reach.

By choosing lab-grown, you get the same chemical and optical properties, with greater consistency, vibrant colour options, and far better accessibility - all without the environmental and ethical impact of mining.

Are lab-grown gemstones real?

Yes, our lab-grown gemstones are chemically, physically, and optically identical to mined stones. They are real gems, created in laboratories using advanced technology that replicates natural conditions - without the environmental or ethical costs of mining.

Which lab-grown gemstones do you offer?

We offer a curated selection of high-quality lab-grown gemstones, including:

  • Diamonds (colorless and fancy hues)
  • Sapphires (blue, pink, yellow, purple, orange)
  • Emeralds
  • Rubies
  • Alexandrites
  • Amethysts
  • Citrines
  • Spinels (blue, green, black)
  • Tsavorites (Green garnet - YAG)
  • Cultured pearls - saltwater and freshwater.

What’s the difference between lab-grown, synthetic, and simulated gemstones?

Lab-grown gemstones (also called synthetic or synthesised) are real gems, with the same chemical composition and crystal structure as natural stones.

Simulated gemstones only imitate the appearance of other gems but have a different composition. For example, we use high-quality spinels to simulate aquamarine, blue topaz, and green tourmaline.

How are lab-grown diamonds made?

There are two main methods:

  • HPHT (High Pressure High Temperature): replicates the natural conditions of heat and pressure.
  • CVD (Chemical Vapor Deposition): grows diamond layers from carbon-rich gas inside a chamber.

Both methods create real diamonds that are chemically and visually identical to mined ones.

Are your diamonds certified?

Yes. All our lab-grown diamonds above 0.5 ct are certified by the International Gemological Institute (IGI). Certification covers the 4Cs: Cut, Color, Clarity, and Carat weight.

Do you certify other gemstones too?

Yes. Upon request and for an additional fee, we can provide third-party gemological certification for colored lab-grown gemstones. This includes rubies, sapphires, emeralds, and other premium stones.

Do lab-grown gemstones have inclusions?

Yes. Like natural gems, lab-grown stones can show inclusions - though usually fewer and less visible thanks to controlled growth. Each stone is unique and hand-selected for exceptional quality.

Are lab-grown gemstones more sustainable?

Yes. Lab-grown gemstones are far more sustainable than mined stones: they require less energy, use minimal water, and avoid destructive mining practices.

Do lab-grown gemstones hold value?

Lab-grown gemstones are not typically purchased for investment purposes. Their value lies in their exceptional quality, beauty, and sustainability.

Why do prices vary so much for lab-grown gemstones?

While you may find stones advertised as “lab-grown” on mass-market sites, they are often not genuine lab-grown gemstones but cubic zirconia or other simulants. Even when they are real, lab-grown gems vary widely in quality - just like mined stones.

At Atlas Carré, we use only premium-grade lab-grown gemstones, cut to the highest standards for brilliance and colour. Each stone is carefully selected and set by hand to ensure exceptional beauty and durability. This means our gems are not just affordable alternatives, but true fine jewellery gemstones - designed to last and hold their value.

Why do you use lab-grown instead of mined stones?

Because we believe in conscious luxury. Lab-grown stones deliver the same brilliance and beauty as mined gems -without the environmental damage or ethical concerns of mining.

Is your jewellery made to order?

Yes. Every piece is handcrafted to order - no excess stock, just intentional craft. Standard timeline is 3–5 weeks from purchase to delivery (production + DHL Express). For details, see our Shipping Policy.

Do you offer engraving or customization?

Yes. Many of our designs can be engraved or customized in your choice of metal or gemstone. To begin your bespoke piece, simply contact us at bespoke@atlascarre.com.

Where is your jewellery made?

Our jewellery is designed in London and fully hallmarked in the UK. Every piece is crafted by experienced artisans and finished to the highest standards, before being packaged and shipped from our London studio.

What certificate will I receive?

Each piece includes an Atlas Carré Certificate of Authenticity and a Lifetime Warranty (manufacturing defects). All diamonds of 0.5 carat and above are supplied with an IGI certificate. Independent certification can be arranged on request for smaller diamonds and select coloured gemstones.

Can I insure my lab-grown jewellery?

Yes. Lab-grown gemstone and diamond pieces can be insured just like natural ones. We recommend contacting your insurer and keeping your invoice and certificate for reference.

How do I care for my Atlas Carré jewellery?

We recommend removing your jewellery before sleeping, bathing, or exercising. Avoid harsh chemicals and direct impact. Clean gently with mild soap and warm water, and store your pieces in a soft pouch or jewellery box to prevent scratches. For more detailed guidance, please see our

Aftercare Policy
